Each year Junior Achievement inducts distinguished laureates into the Wichita Business Hall of Fame.  These individuals are selected by an independent committee of Wichita Businesspeople.  The Laureates are selected based on the lasting effect their business ventures have had on the Wichita area

History

The Wichita Business Hall of Fame was established in 1986 to recognize individuals whose dedicated leadership, vision, and innovation have contributed to the progress and prosperity of Wichita.  These individuals are exemplary role models for our youth who will become our future business leaders.

Objective

By recognizing the contributions of Wichita’s honored business leaders, Junior Achievement is working to provide a better understanding of, and an appreciation for, the American private enterprise system and its dynamic freedoms, responsibilities and opportunities for the future.

General Selection Criteria

Induction into the Wichita Business Hall of Fame is one of the most prestigious business awards in Wichita.  As such, the laureates chosen to receive the award not only meet the high standards established for the honor, but are a sign of the quality of the award.  The Laureates who are chosen join an illustrious group of Laureates who are noted not only for their leadership in free enterprise and their success in business, but also for their community involvement and contributions to the community.

Because Junior Achievement of Wichita sponsors the award, an organization whose prime audience is youth, the honorees must also be outstanding role models for the students involved in Junior Achievement’s economic education programs, as well as for all youth who will be motivated, inspired and encouraged by the example set out by the Laureates of the Wichita Business Hall of Fame.

Proceeds from the Wichita Business Hall of Fame will benefit the local Kindergarten through 12th grade students receiving  Junior Achievement programs during the coming year.
